the only real complaint i had was that some of the other guests didn't follow the no-smoking signs and smoked at the end of some of the halls and such. So, the whole time i was there, the hallways kinda smelled like smoke :

If I'd have gotten a real door like all the other rooms had maybe the cockroach in my room could've been avoided.

The rooms are small, but it's cheap so that's ok. Beware the beds are just rolled up mattresses on the floor. They are very hard, so are the pillows. I reccomend bringing your own pillow if you like them soft.

Good position if you travel with JR Pass. Not exciting but a good choise comnpared to its price.

Great place. I liked the traditional Japanese rooms and the staff was very helpful. Location was a bit far from some of the sights, but was it quiet and had more locals than tourists. Besides, the train system is great and can get you anywhere!

An okay hostel, but you have to be inside before 12 or they lock the door. Also the owner isn't fond of people making noise after 12.
