This hostel has a great location if you want to stay near the beach. Unfortunately they have a no drinking policy, even so it would have been nice if they were to arranged few pub crawls to compensate for that. Cause of this it was very hard to mix and mingle with other fellow travellers, as everybody pretty much kept to themselves. A nice place tho for people who want a quite night's sleep!

the best HI hostel I have been to, but still quite puritan (no liquor, no mixed dorms, extremely early breakfasts) because of it. The hostel itself was in a great area, right next to the beach, and even in the low season it was quite full of nice people

Santa Monica is a way better area to stay in than Hollywood, you're right on the beach and close to good shopping and restaurants... it's closer to LAX airport aswell so will save you some

Great hostel that has all the facilities you would need. Santa Monica is one of the nicer areas in LA to stay in. Only downside to the hostel is that you cannot drink in it and my bunk seemed to have bed bugs in it. Overall great hostel though.

i met some great people here and santa monica is a great area but it is still a typical H.I hostel...large and slightly lacking in character but at least they are always reliable and the staff at this one were quite helpful

The hostel was very clean and the staff was very friendly. The hostel is only 5 min away from the beach ! The only disadvantage is that it is not allowed to drink alcohol in the kitchen and in the whole hostel.

This hostel is very clean, but if you like to drink and socialize, this hostel is not for you. No drinking on property.
