The sanctuary

The sanctuary shower was dirty and the drain trap so full of hair that it would flood. Cleaning and maintenance on the sanctuary floor was below par, but the communal areas were very well looked after. The staff were very helpful and friendly, but the location and building were very noisy.

loud - mainly from plumbing pipes from bathroom above running over my bunk.
Had pre-booked a "sanctuary" room. I had a late arrival time but hadn't realised from the website that the advertised bubbly wouldn't be available. Also the staff admitted he hadn't prepared the "pamper pack" so he just chucked a shampoo on a towel and shoved it across the counter! In hindsight I would have foregone the "pampering" and got myself a private room - without the plumbing!

Some staff were very short with us and didn't seem to want to help. Luckily we were New Zelander's and have travelled lots so could work things out ourselves but you can't be like that with foreigners. I've travelled lots and it is scary if you don't know where you are and can't get good help.

The usual sterile,impersonal and conveyer belt chain hostel experience.Only reason we went their was they advertised parking,which was full.Kitchen and tv room tiny.Bar like a nightclub

Great hostel...the only thing I'd say is the showers were dirty over the weekend, and I always like a hostel where you can BYO drinks in the common hang out area (bar in the basement was ok though)

Its a great place to stay, especially for the young travellers. The rooms are clean, the staff are amazing, very helpful and considerate. I would highly recommend this x-base hostel to anyone. I have only one gripe which has nothing to do with X-Base is the noise from the night clubs. Take some ear plugs if you are light sleeper. The hostel I rate very highly. Many thanks to all the staff.
